Laptops are incredibly important for university students, and the theft of one can have devastating consequences. Weeks’ worth of complicated work and thousands of priceless files are stored on students’ laptops, and losing this data can have serious implications.
West Mercia Police are appealing for information after a Pershore College student had his laptop stolen in a robbery in the town. The teenage victim lost his Sony laptop in the robbery and was assaulted by the perpetrators.
He had left college and was walking through the tunnel underneath Bridge Street on November 6th at around 1pm when three men ran towards him. They wrestled with him and pulled his bag off him. After one of the robbers fled with his laptop bag, the other grabbed him by the throat.
The brave teenager then headbutted the robber and made his escape, running back to his college and raising the alarm. It is thought the headbutt caused an injury to the bridge of the attacker’s nose.
South Worcestershire CID Detective Sergeant Stuart Hawkswood said that Pershore is normally a peaceful town, and this incident left the victim “quite shaken.”
He pointed out that the stolen laptop contained the victim’s college work, so the robbery has led to a lot of problems.
The man who stole the laptop is described as a stocky man with a black beanie hat. The second man had short dark hair and was slim with a dark complexion, and the third man had a dark beard, which was greying. All perpetrators are described as scruffy.
Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The incident reference number for this crime is 303s 06/11/13.
