5 Great Cooking Apps for Christmas
From Christmas dinner, to the Christmas pudding, to the endless snacks you buy especially for the big day, there’s no denying that the food is one of the most anticipated and important parts of Christmas Day.
But unless you’re staying with relatives or are going out for your Christmas dinner, the thought of providing the Christmas food can fill you with stress and result in many sleepless nights.
If you need a helping hand in the kitchen this Christmas, why not download one of these handy cooking apps?
1. BBC Good Food
Whether you love to cook or are a beginner when it comes to culinary creations, this is a great app to have on your phone throughout the year, as well as during the festive period.
The app, which is free to download on iOS and Windows, comes with 20 favourite recipes and features cookbooks that you can buy within the app. The Festive cookbook includes 180 recipes ranging from the classic roast turkey to easy mince pies.
2. Perfect Christmas Dinner
This might not be the newest app on the market, but Perfect Christmas Dinner by Createanet is one to have on your iPhone or iPad.
It brings you guidance from the professional chef tutors at Ashburton Cookery School (one of the best culinary schools in the UK) with over 25 video recipes covering Christmas treats ranging from canapes to drinks.
It also features handy tools such as a shopping list maker and a menu list to help you stay organised.
3. Christmas Food
While you can’t beat the classic Christmas roast turkey, sometimes it’s nice to try something a little different.
If you want to be inspired during the festive period, download the Christmas Food app from the Google Play store.
With recipes from duck’s breast with honey and pears to Christmas pudding strudel (as well as the classics) your friends and family will love the creations you whip up thanks to this app.
4. KitchenPad Timer
One of the biggest stresses about cooking Christmas dinner is keeping on top of all the timings for the different things you have cooking at once.
This timer app, which costs £2.29 to download from the iTunes store, lets you set timers for your stove, oven and BBQ grill. Although you probably won’t need to use the last setting for your Christmas dinner.
It can tell you what is on your stove or in the oven, how much longer it has left, and even the temperature or heat setting so you can truly stay in control of your cooking.
Okay, so this might not be a cooking app but Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a few festive tipples.
Treat your guests (and yourself) to a selection of Christmas cocktails with the Mixologist app.
Available to buy from iTunes and Google Play, you’ll have access to nearly 8,000 drink recipes. The Liquor Cabinet tool lets users enter the spirits and mixers they have and searches the database to provide you with a list of recipes you can make with what you have. Cheers to that!
