Latest Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 rumours
When we discuss tablets, you’d be forgiven for immediately thinking about iPads. After all, they lead the way when it comes to tablets.
However, Apple’s long-term rival, Samsung, has gradually been closing the gap and bringing Android tablets to the minds of consumers.
While Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S2, released in 2015, wasn’t able to pinch the top spot from Apple, it took second place in many tablet lists. All eyes are now on Samsung to see if its Galaxy Tab S3 will be able to claim the number one position.
With Samsung sending out invitations for its Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC) press event, it’s time to take a look at the latest Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 rumours to see what could be in store:
Specs and features
Whereas launches of flagship devices by big tech companies tend to be preceded numerous leaks of design and specs, that doesn’t appear to have happened as much with the Galaxy Tab S3.
Having said that, we’ve not been left completely in the dark, as images posted by journalist Evan Blass seem to show three possible design renders for the new device.
These photos suggest the design hasn’t changed much from the Galaxy Tab S2, however, one key change is that it looks like the display’s aspect ratio has switched from 4:3 to 16:10.
The majority of rumours suggest the Galaxy Tab S3 will come in two size formats, an 8-inch model and a 9.7-inch version. It isn’t yet known whether the screen will be 4K but it will almost certainly be AMOLED rather than IPs.
With regard to its other specs and features, the Galaxy Tab S3 is shrouded in secrecy – which is a rarity in today’s world. However, we can’t help but feel this makes the Galaxy Tab S3 even more intriguing.
It is expected that the price of the Galaxy Tab S3 will be similar to that of the S2, which cost £319 for the smallest storage size and 8-inch version, while the 32GB 9.7-inch version cost £399. Some commentators are saying there could be differences, with the larger storage size model expected to be even more.
Samsung’s invitations for its press event at MWC 2017 have revealed that the tech giant will be giving its conference on 26 February.
The invitations seem to tease a new tablet announcement, so many are speculating that Samsung will use this event to unveil the Galaxy Tab S3. The company has also revealed that it won’t be using the event to showcase the Galaxy S8.
Although an official release date has not yet been announced, those in the industry believe the Galaxy Tab S3 release might not be in the near future as it took Samsung more than three months to release the Galaxy Tab S2 after it was announced in July 2015.
But things are looking promising, as the tablet is reported to have received its official Bluetooth certification as well as certification from the FCC (Federal Communications Commission – a regulatory agency in the US).
These certificates, along with the invitation, would seem to suggest Samsung is gearing up to launch its latest tablet.
