Favourite features on the iPad Pro
In November 2015 Apple ventured into unknown territory with the release of its first 12.9” model of the massively popular and well-loved iPad. It was branded as the iPad Pro and was effectively targetting users who required a larger screen and a more powerful device aka graphic designers, video editors etc.
5 months on and Apple have released the 9.7” version to replace the iPad and iPad Air models but still using the iPad Pro name that its bigger brother recently adopted.
In the process of this Apple have made some massive improvements on previous iPad models. Today we’re here to discuss our Top 5 favourite features on the iPad Pro 9.7”.
At the heart of the iPad Pro is the A9X which is a 64-bit ARM based system on a chip (SoC). This is the same that first appeared in the iPad Pro back in November 2015.
The A9X has the M9 motion coprocessor embedded in it, which had not been before. This gives the iPad Pro the power to easily take on tasks once reserved for workstations and PCs.
With up to 1.8 times the CPU performance of iPad Air 2, the A9X chip delivers incredible responsiveness. Even complex actions like editing 4K video happen immediately and with unparalleled smoothness. Despite this amazing performance, the A9X chip’s architecture still enables up to 10 hours of battery life.
The iPad Pro boasts amazing cameras on both the front and back. The 9.7” iPad Pro comes with an impressive 12MP iSight camera which has the ability capture 4K video and 240 fps slow motion videos.
If you’ve used an iPad or an iPhone for that matter, then you’ll know that the speakers are good but not great. Well, the iPad Pro comes with four high-fidelity speakers in each corner that truly creates a wide and highly detailed soundstage.
The speakers automatically adjust to the direction of the frequencies to the topmost speakers, no matter how you’re holding it. This really does help you get fully immersed in what you are doing, whether it’s playing games or watching movies.
Fact: Apple claims the iPad Pro is three times louder than the iPad Air 2.
The iPad Pro includes Touch ID making unlocking your tablet simple and secure.
Touch ID isn’t just for unlocking your phone. It also lets you use Apple Pay at over two million stores and within apps. You can also make secure purchases in iTunes, iBooks, and the App Store.
The Apple Pencil
The Apple Pencil has certainly divided opinion between Apple aficionados since its announcement back in September 2015 but it is one of our favourite features on the iPad Pro.
Aside from the £79.00 asking price on top of the price of your iPad, this really is truly remarkable game changer for the iPad. When using iPad Pro there may be moments when you want even greater precision. The Apple Pencil lets you make any number of effects, right down to a single pixel, giving you more creative freedom than ever before.
Lastly, this is just a great piece of design in terms of charging the pen. Simply lip off the magnetic cap of Apple Pencil to reveal a Lightning connector that lets you charge Apple Pencil simply by plugging it into iPad Pro. You can just charge it from your iPad Pro for 15 seconds and get 30 minutes of use (although a full charge will give you 12 hours of battery life).
