Features of the best iPhone 13 Pro insurance

Arranging specialist mobile phone insurance from Gadget Cover is a popular way to keep your sought-after iPhone 13 safe from damage, theft and loss. As one of the most desirable iPhones in the world right now, you’ll want to make sure your iPhone 13 Pro is properly covered by an insurance policy.

Whichever one of Apple’s iPhones you’ve chosen, when you’re looking for an insurance policy for your mobile phone these are the features you need to have from day one.

1. Accidental damage

Yes, we know that Apple has provided all the iPhone 13 phone range with cutting-edge Ceramic Shield front covers to protect their stunning Super Retina XDR OLED screen from harm. But we really wouldn’t rely on it in every situation.

You’ll no doubt take your iPhone with you wherever you go. But when iPhones get dropped or damaged then that might be the end of the fun for you both.

The cost of screen damage for iPhones can soon mount up, so make sure you choose the right level of excess with your insurance policy. According to Apple, if your iPhone’s out of warranty then the cost of screen replacement in the UK could cost from £266 for an iPhone 13 Pro repair.

2. Liquid damage

Apple has worked hard on upping the durability of the iPhone 13 range, and we aren’t just talking about that Ceramic Shield front. Your iPhone 13 Pro comes with a water and dust resistance rating of IP68, too.

However, be warned that, over time, water and dust resistance can begin to lessen. And if your iPhone 13 Pro suffers liquid damage, you’ll want an insurance policy that offers a speedy remedy.

Again, repair costs can soon mount up when it comes to liquid damage. Apple says an out-of-warranty repair for an iPhone 13 Pro could cost £526. An Apple Authorised Service Provider could charge even more!

To deal adequately with such potentially high repair costs, you’ll want your excess to be set at the right level. While a high excess can mean a cheaper iPhone 13 Pro insurance policy, if you can’t afford to pay the excess then you’ll come unstuck when it comes to damage repair.

3. Breakdown insurance

With the A15 Bionic chipset lauded as ‘the world’s fastest smartphone chip’, every one of the iPhone 13 range boasts stunning performance power. But sometimes even the best-designed machine can break down.

And that’s why you’ll want to check your iPhone 13 Pro is covered by breakdown insurance and that your excess is set at the right level. If you’re concerned about the level of excess you’ve arranged on your iPhone Pro insurance policy, contact the team at Gadget Cover.

4. Unauthorised usage

We all know that such a desirable iPhone could be lost or stolen. But something that isn’t always considered is the potential bill for thousands of pounds worth of unauthorised calls and data usage that a thief could soon run up.

By arranging an insurance policy through Gadget Cover, you could be covered for up to £2,500 in unauthorised calls or data usage.

5. Loss

When you’ve spent close to a thousand pounds on a new iPhone 13 Pro, you’d think you would keep a watchful eye on such a valuable item. But even the most careful of owners can get distracted and lose sight of their beloved iPhone 13 Pro.

Just in case this happens to you, Gadget Cover offers an optional level of policy cover to protect against loss. It costs just a little extra, but is well worth the extra expense.

6. Theft

Looking at those enviable tech specs above, it’s no wonder that the iPhone 13 Pro can be a popular target for criminals. Yet another reason to invest in iPhone 13 Pro insurance sooner rather than later.

7. Accessory cover

Apple makes a wonderful range of matching accessories perfect for the iPhone 13 Pro. But from MagSafe wallets to wireless headphones, if something happens to damage your iPhone, it could damage these, too.

The accessory cover included in a Gadget Cover iPhone insurance policy will protect any accessories (up to £150) if they’re lost, stolen or damaged at the same time as your iPhone. We really have thought of everything!

8. Worldwide cover

Whether travelling for business or for pleasure, an iPhone 13 Pro makes a great travel companion. Just make sure you’ve got worldwide mobile phone insurance cover that’s appropriate for your destination.

9. Family cover

Choosing an insurance policy with family cover means your brand-new iPhone 13 Pro is protected no matter which of your nearest and dearest is using it at the time.

10. E-wallet cover

And finally, with cybercrime on the rise you’ll also want to include E-wallet cover in your mobile phone insurance policy. So, if your iPhone is accidentally lost or stolen and unauthorised transactions are made then you could be refunded up to a maximum of £500 through your iPhone insurance policy.

Top 10 questions to ask when looking for iPhone insurance

With a specialist like Gadget Cover in your corner, finding the right iPhone insurance for your needs is so straightforward. Just make sure you ask the right questions to ensure the mobile phone insurance policy has all the cover features you need.

Here are 10 questions to ask when you take out cover:

  1. Does the policy start instantly?
  2. Can I choose to pay annually or monthly?
  3. Does the insurance policy cover even minor screen cracks?
  4. Does the policy cover against loss?
  5. Are my iPhone accessories also insured?
  6. Is there a limit on the number of insurance claims I can make in a year?
  7. How long do I have to make a claim?
  8. Is the level of insurance excess right for me?
  9. What are the exclusions on the policy?
  10. Is my family also covered?

That said, when it comes to performing an accurate iPhone 13 Pro insurance comparison, the more questions you ask the better!

Is buying the iPhone 13 Pro worth it?

How much does iPhone insurance cover cost? And where to get an insurance quote

Whatever your budget or requirements there’s bound to be an insurance policy to suit. But even the most comprehensive and most expensive policies are certainly affordable.

In general, iPhone insurance can cost anywhere from £5 up to £15 per month. However, how much you will pay will depend on a whole range of factors including the iPhone model, the level of cover and any additional extras.

As well as the headline cost, you’ll also need to take into account the amount of excess to pay if you do claim. The excess level could be set anywhere from £50 to £125 and will need to be paid before your handset can be repaired or replaced.

Finding out how much an iPhone insurance policy will cost you is easy with Gadget Cover. Just enter your new iPhone’s make and model into our online tool and away you go!

Does the iPhone 13 Pro come with a warranty?

Apple is certainly one of the most highly-regarded phone manufacturers in the world, and has been for many years now. And all iPhones in the iPhone 13 range will come with an Apple Limited Warranty.

This covers your iPhone and other Apple-made accessories against manufacturing defects for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty operates alongside any right you may have under UK consumer laws.

Be warned, under the Apple warranty you won’t be covered for any damage caused by accidents or unauthorised modifications you have made. If the warranty or consumer law doesn't cover your repair, you'll pay substantial out-of-warranty fees.

That’s why it’s so important to protect your iPhone 13 Pro with mobile phone insurance as soon as possible. You never know when disaster might strike.

Mobile phones have become an integral part of our lifestyles. Many of us would never leave home without a phone in our pocket. And most of the time, it’s not simple phones but sophisticated and expensive smartphones that we carry with us everywhere.

Carrying a phone like that means that you’re vulnerable to dangers ranging from theft to loss and damage. High-quality smartphones are usually expensive and to pay for one, you may have agreed to sign a contract - which you’ll need to keep on paying even if you lose or damage your phone.

However, you can protect yourself against such risks by covering your phone with specialist mobile phone insurance.

Benefits can vary from insurer to insurer - that’s why it’s smart to shop around and look through various offers before settling on an insurance company.

Before purchasing a mobile phone insurance contract, make sure to read the Terms & Conditions carefully. That’s how you’ll be able to tell which clauses and exclusions apply to the type of insurance you’ve chosen.

A critical part of your mobile phone insurance is the type of theft it covers. For instance, theft without force or unattended theft may not be covered. If someone steals your phone from your pocket or takes it from a table in a cafe when you’re distracted, you’ll be left uninsured. Moreover, some insurers may refuse to pay out in specific cases - for example, if you forget your phone and leave it by accident on a train or taxi. If you’re deemed to have been careless by the provider, you might not be covered by the insurance. Any sort of water damage might fall under this exclusion too.

Pay attention to the terms stated in your contract. Some insurers require you to report the phone as lost to the police and the insurer within a specific time limit such as 24 hours or less.

The exclusions to this mobile phone insurance include:

  • Leaving the phone unattended
  • Theft from a vehicle or premises where there is no visible sign of forced entry
  • Lack of proof of purchase or receipt
  • Any claim where the phone has not been used since the insurance has been taken out

Make sure that the policy you choose has all the cover you need. Check if it provides instant cover, whether there’s a limit on the number of claims per year, and how much the excess is.

When searching for phone cover, consider gadget insurance. Many providers offer that type of insurance that may cover mobile phones - just make sure to specify your smartphone when describing the gadget in question. You can insure more than one device with the same policy - for example, your laptop, camera, and tablet.

Some types of home insurance include mobile phone coverage as well. While these can be simple and cost-effective, they come with downsides such as lengthy claim processing that could leave you without a mobile phone for a more extended period of time.

With gadget cover your phone will be covered from the moment you finalise the purchase of insurance. You won’t have to wait for the insurance policy to be processed and applied within a specific number of days from your purchase. Instead, you can enjoy coverage right from the moment of purchase.

To make a claim, you need to do the following:

If your claim is for damage, we will ask you to send the gadget to our nominated repair centre where we can inspect and repair it. We aim to repair or replace items within 5 to 7 working days.

If your claim if for the theft or loss of your gadget you must report the theft or loss to the police and your service provider no later than 48 hours after you notice that your gadget is missing.

Next, you need to contact us. Make sure to do that as quickly as possible - within 48 hours from discovering loss or theft of your gadget.

You can call our dedicated Claim Advisors on 0203 794 9294. You can also send us an email to gadgetcoverclaims@davies-group.com. If you take longer than 48 hours to contact us, you risk your claim being delayed or rejected.

We aim to process claims within 48 hours, once we receive all the required documentation - which includes proof of ownership. If we approve the claim, you will need to pay the policy excess to let us proceed with the claim. Make sure that you provide us with all the required documentation and pay the excess as quickly as possible - any delay may make the process longer.

For many smartphone users, the most valuable content on their phone, that no insurance company is able to replace, is their contacts, photos, files, and other pieces of personal information.

There are many things you can do right now to make sure that data stored on your phone is protected against loss. Consider the available cloud storage options for creating backups of your data. Storing them in the cloud offers a significant advantage - they will be available to you from any device connected to the internet.

Once you settle on an adequate storage solution, schedule regular backups of your data to make sure that all your files and information are located in your storage.

All in all, the best advice to keep your phone is safe, is to look after it and to protect it against the hassle and cost that comes with loss, theft, or damage.
